The first Kiss performance was on January 30, 1973, for an
audience of three at the Popcorn Club (renamed Coventry shortly
afterward) in Queens. In March of that year, the band recorded
a five-song demo tape with producer Eddie Kramer. Former TV
director Bill Aucoin, who had seen the group at a handful of
showcase concerts in the summer of 1973, offered to become
the band’s manager in mid-October. Kiss agreed, with the
condition that Aucoin get them signed to a recording contract
within two weeks. On November 1, 1973, Kiss became the first
act signed to former teen pop singer and Buddha Records executive
Neil Bogart's new label, Emerald City Records (which was shortly
afterward renamed Casablanca Records).
The band entered Bell Sound Studios in New York City on
October 10, 1973 to begin recording their first album. On
December 31 the band had their official industry premier at the
Academy of Music in New York City, opening for Blue Öyster
Cult. It was at this concert that Simmons accidentally set his hair
(which was coated in hairspray) ablaze for the first of many times
while performing his inaugural firebreathing stunt.

Skelton was the son of a Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus clown named
Joe who died in 1913 shortly before the birth of his son. Skelton
himself got one of his earliest tastes of show business with the same
circus as a teenager. Before that, however, he had been given the
show business bug at age ten by entertainer Ed Wynn, who spotted
him selling newspapers in front of the Pantheon Theatre, in Vincennes,
Indiana, trying to help his family.

This year will mark ten years since "The Chairman of the Board"
has been gone. He may be gone, but he certainly isn't forgotten.
We've taken an original b&w glossy publicity photo which most
of Sinatra's fans say is their favorite pose, and we professionally
mated it with an original and authentic Frank Sinatra signature
signed in black fountain pen ink on a vintage autograph book page.
Singer and film actor, born in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA. As a
teenager, he organized a singing group, the Hoboken Four, which
won first prize on the Major Bowes Original Amateur Hour.
Following graduation from the Drake Institute, he spent several
years singing in New Jersey roadhouses before finding work in the
late 1930s as a radio studio singer in New York City. In 1939,
while performing at a club in New Jersey, he was heard by Harry
James, who signed him to appear with his new swing band. After
touring with James (1939), he rose to prominence with Tommy

Old 1913 Enrico Caruso Self Portrait Drawing
- By Yunita Dery

Hand drawn on “Georgian Terrace Hotel” stationary is this original
caricature Self Portrait of the great Opera Tenor “Enrico Caruso
(1873-1921). Underneath the sketch is autographed, “Enrico
Caruso, Atlanta Ge, 1913”. The stationary paper measures 8 ¼”
by 10 ¾” and does have very old fine fold lines, but there are no
damages or repairs. It has been in the frame you see since the early
20th century. A past owner added the tape you see on the
backboard. This original Enrico Caruso Autograph and Self Portrait
Pen & Ink Drawing was consigned to me bay a very good friend.
Enrico Caruso was born on February 25, 1873 and took up
singing with passion at the age of 11. At the age of 18, Caruso had
a pleasing yet small voice with a baritonal timbre. In 1891, while
singing on a rotunda at the pier, the young baritone Eduardo
Missiano heard Caruso and insisted on taking him to his own voice
teacher, Guglielmo Vergine. The Maestro's first judgment was
discouraging: The voice was "too small and sounded like the wind
whistling through the windows." Missiano insisted on a second
hearing and eight dayslater, Vergine agreed to teach Caruso; in
lieu of payment, Caruso was contracted to pay Vergine 25% of his
earnings for "five years of actual singing."
When he died on August 2, 1921, at the age of 48, Caruso was
still at the top of his profession. He was the reigning tenor at the
Metropolitan Opera as well as the best-selling recording artist.
He was remembered as a warm, happy man who was generous
to his friends.
Generations of singers and tenors have been inspired by live
performances and the legacy of the 250 recordings left by Caruso,
not just for their golden tone but for their musical and dramatic
portrayals.

Frank Sinatra has faced triumph, failure and triumph again
throughout his long career as an entertainer. New musical fads
and trends-bebop, soft rock, hard rock, punk, rap, hip-hop
come and go, but somehow the Sinatra show that exploded half
a century ago beats on into the 1990's.
(Rolling Stone, 1980) "What Sinatra did was important: he took
the songs of Porter, Gershwin, Arlen, Cahn,Fein, and others and
made them seem personal and imperative. It was an eloquent
display of his paradoxical brand of artistry; touch, yet sensitive,
vain yet compassionate, grasping yet generous. And when Sinatra
left the stage, we realized we might never witness artistry that big
and that provocative, again."
Frank Sinatra developed a unique white-blues style, supple
enough to express the wide range of his own turbulent emotions.
He transformed the tunes of the great writers into something
personal by the sincerity of his performance; Sinatra actually
seemed to "believe" the words he was singing.
